Upcoming Event: Seeing and Shaping the Future – New Models of Inspired Action

June 18, 1:00-9:30 pm and June 19, 1:30-3:30 pm
Mount Saint Vincent University, Rosaria Building

ALIA and Envision NS invite you to a “gathering within a gathering” at the upcoming ALIA Summer Institute. Come together to learn from models, stories, and prototypes from Nova Scotia and around the world. Explore ways that we can work together to “shape the future” in our communities, organizations, and province.

Over two afternoons join break-out sessions and keynotes that give first-hand accounts of new ways of working, creating, solving problems, and making an impact in the following fields.

  • Community Resilience
  • Innovation and Health
  • Women’s Leadership
  • Multi-Generational Partnerships
  • Social Innovation
  • Citizen Engagement
  • Art for a Change
  • Narrative as a Lever for Social Change
  • Transformative Scenario Planning

The five-day Summer Institute is part conference, part retreat, and part living laboratory for new ways of organizing, leading, and solving complex challenges. While the Summer Institute has generally been closed to part-time attendance, this year two afternoon sessions will be opened to the public.

For 13 years the ALIA Summer Institute has been attracting 200+ thought leaders, managers, educators, and innovators from across North America and around the world. Each year, a growing number of Nova Scotians have joined in, strengthening their leadership, picking up new ideas and tools, and applying them to their “wicked issues” and innovative projects. The Summer Institute is also a platform for showcasing Nova Scotia’s own examples of inspired leadership and innovation.
